Aldo Rebelo steps down from the Sao Paulo City Hall to focus on Ricardo Nunes’ campaign
The former minister Aldo Rebelo (MDB) has left the Municipal Secretary of International Relations to dedicate himself to Mayor Ricardo Nunes’ (MDB) campaign. Enrico Misasi, Executive Secretary of Institutional Relations, has also resigned from his position for the same purpose. The dismissals were published this Wednesday, the 17th.
Speaking to Estadão, Aldo Rebelo mentioned that he requested his disaffiliation from the Mayor to participate in the campaign. The former Secretary will now be responsible for managing the relationships between various sectors of society and Ricardo Nunes’ campaign. Meanwhile, Enrico Misasi will take on the role of executive coordinator of the campaign.
“I will bring the campaign closer to all sectors of society, including culture, education, sports, youth, health, businessmen, and unions. My goal will be to mobilize these segments to support Ricardo Nunes’ reelection,” stated Aldo.
Aldo Rebelo arrived at the City Hall in February this year, filling the vacancy left by former Mayor Marta Suplicy. Marta was dismissed from Nunes’ administration after accepting an invitation to join the PT party and become the vice-presidential candidate alongside Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) for the Sao Paulo Mayoralty.
Aldo Rebelo, a former minister under the PT governments, was Ricardo Nunes’ top choice for vice mayor, but the nomination became unfeasible after his affiliation with the MDB party. Nunes’ allies, including the Governor of Sao Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), tried to persuade Aldo to join one of the mayor’s affiliated parties, but he rejected the idea. Tarcísio even proposed the Republicarnos party as an option, but Aldo chose the MDB, to which he had previously been affiliated.
