Candidata a vice pelo PSOL, Dona Mira afirma que “representa a esquerda de verdade”

Dona Mira Alves, the vice mayoral candidate in Salvador, alongside Kleber Rosa from PSOL, ensures that the PSOL and Rede Sustentabilidade coalition represents the “true left” and will “govern” the capital of Bahia.

“We have a project for real change in the lives of the people in our city. We cannot continue as we are. We are always working with the communities. We will elect at least 4 council members. Salvador will reflect us,” emphasized the mayoral candidate during a podcast on the Política Livre website last Monday night.

When asked about the removal of the Suburban Train in Salvador, the socialist pointed out that the train lines were “a heritage of the city” and were extinguished in an authoritarian manner without dialogue with the surrounding communities. For the candidate, who lived for 30 years in the Suburbana neighborhood, the train was essential for the transportation of families who make a living from fishing and shellfish harvesting.

“When they removed the train, families were left in a situation of total despair because they were left without a way to commute to work or school. Families do not have the financial means to pay for bus or metro fares. I raised my children by taking the train to Porto das Sardinhas. The train was a great asset of ours that was cruelly taken away from us,” lamented Dona Mira.
