In the latest twist of events, a British news channel reportedly interfered with the airing of an episode of “The Simpsons” following an attack on Donald Trump, former President of the United States and a candidate for re-election.
As per reports circulating in the international press, Channel 4 allegedly chose not to broadcast an episode last Sunday (14) that depicted a situation similar to what happened to the Republican at a rally the day before.
The episode titled “Lisa the Iconoclast” is the 16th episode of the seventh season, and according to The Independent and New York Post, it was scheduled to air at 1 pm as part of the lineup. Instead, another episode was aired in its place.
One scene from the episode that was supposed to air shows an armed policeman on a rooftop near a platform where Lisa was giving a speech during Springfield’s bicentennial celebration. The scenes echoed the attack on Trump the previous day when he was injured in the ear during an assassination attempt while addressing his supporters.
“At first, I wondered why Channel 4 pulled the scheduled broadcast of ‘Lisa The Iconoclast,’ but I think I understand now,” tweeted user @RopesToInfinity. Another user, @AndyJowett3, commented, “In many ways, I’m the victim here, for not being able to watch the episode.”
The show is renowned for its uncanny parallels with current events and has gained a reputation for “predicting” the future. Some notable instances include the three-eyed fish, the R$ 200 banknote, and the coronavirus pandemic.
